Engineering plastics for maximum chemical resistance

Our fans are available in a wide range of plastic materials, selected according to the nature of the gases to be transported and the temperature conditions.

PP

Polypropylene

Standard material for most applications. Excellent resistance to acids, alkalis and saline solutions. Very good cost/performance ratio for extracting corrosive vapours.

Up to 90 °C continuous

PVC

Polyvinyl chloride

High resistance to mineral acids, bases and saline solutions at ambient temperature. Ideal for ventilation in pickling lines, electroplating and surface treatment.

Up to 50 °C continuous

PVDF

Polyvinylidene fluoride

Fluorinated thermoplastic with exceptional universal chemical resistance. Ideal for extracting concentrated acid vapours, chlorine and solvents at elevated temperatures.

Up to 120 °C continuous

E-CTFE

Ethylene-chlorotrifluoroethylene

Maximum chemical resistance combined with excellent mechanical properties. For the most demanding applications where no other thermoplastic can withstand the conditions.

Up to 150 °C continuous

FRP

Fibreglass-reinforced polyester

Composite with high structural rigidity and good chemical resistance. Enables large-size fans to be manufactured with excellent dimensional stability under load.

Up to 120 °C continuous

PE

High-density polyethylene

Good resistance to dilute acids and alkalis. Economical and versatile for low and medium temperature ventilation applications that do not require fluorinated materials.

Up to 60 °C continuous

Common questions about TECNIUM plastic fans

Pulley and belt coupling allows the impeller speed to be set independently of the motor, enabling higher pressures (up to 7,000 Pa) and larger flow rates (up to 120,000 m³/h). Direct coupling connects the impeller directly to the motor shaft, simplifying construction, reducing maintenance and mechanical losses, but is limited to standard motor speeds and reaches lower pressures and flows (up to 4,500 Pa and 40,000 m³/h).

TECNIUM fans are designed to transport corrosive gases and vapours such as hydrochloric acid (HCl), sulphuric acid (H₂SO₄), hydrofluoric acid (HF), chlorine (Cl₂), ammonia (NH₃), hydrogen sulphide (H₂S), solvent vapours (VOCs) and mixtures of acid and alkaline gases found in industrial processes of all kinds.

Material selection depends on the gas to be transported, its concentration and temperature. PP is the most common and cost-effective choice for most acids and alkalis up to 90 °C. PVDF is required when handling concentrated acids or higher temperatures. E-CTFE is reserved for the most extreme applications. Our technical team performs free material compatibility assessments to recommend the optimal choice.

Yes. TECNIUM fans are an essential component of gas scrubbing systems. They are specifically sized to work with TECNIUM’s own absorption towers, biofilters and scrubbers, guaranteeing the flow rate and pressure required for the correct operation of the treatment system.

Yes. Every fan is custom-sized according to the process conditions: type of gas, required flow, system pressure drop, temperature, construction material and mounting configuration. TECNIUM selects the optimal operating point on the fan curve to guarantee maximum efficiency and minimum energy consumption.

TECNIUM plastic fans require minimal maintenance. The parts in contact with the gas do not corrode, eliminating the need for protective paint. On pulley and belt models, periodic checking of belt tension and condition is recommended. On both types, a visual inspection of impeller and casing is advised, along with verification of motor bearing operation according to the motor manufacturer’s instructions.
