Thermoplastics and composites for maximum resistance

All TECNIUM tanks are available in a wide selection of materials, each chosen for its specific chemical and thermal resistance properties.

PP

Polypropylene

Excellent thermal and chemical stability. Resistant to many acid solutions, salts and organic solvents. Highly cost-effective for large-capacity tanks.

Up to 90 °C continuous

PE

High-density polyethylene

Good chemical and mechanical resistance. Ideal for storage of dilute acids, alkalis and saline solutions. Cost-effective and versatile.

Up to 60 °C continuous

PVC

Polyvinyl chloride

High resistance to acids, bases and saline solutions. UV-stabilised for outdoor installations. Widely used in storage tanks across many industries.

Up to 50 °C continuous

PVDF

Polyvinylidene fluoride

Fluorinated plastic with exceptional chemical resistance against virtually all inorganic acids and alkalis. Maximum durability for extreme environments.

Up to 120 °C continuous

E-CTFE

Ethylene-chlorotrifluoroethylene

Fluorinated thermoplastic with maximum chemical resistance. Weldable in inert atmosphere. Ideal for tanks handling the most aggressive chemicals.

Up to 150 °C continuous

FRP

Fibreglass-reinforced polyester

Composite combining high chemical resistance with excellent mechanical rigidity. Ideal for large tanks, stacks and structural components.

Up to 120 °C continuous

Common questions about TECNIUM plastic tanks

TECNIUM manufactures vertical and horizontal tanks, vessels, reactors, decanters, rectangular vats and stacks in thermoplastics (PP, PE, PVC, PVDF, E-CTFE) and in fibreglass-reinforced polyester (FRP). We also produce dual-laminate tanks (thermoplastic liner with FRP exterior reinforcement) for applications requiring maximum mechanical strength combined with chemical protection.

Our tanks reach capacities of up to 200,000 litres. The design is adapted to each installation: from small 500-litre dosing tanks to large storage tanks for industrial tank farms. Each tank is custom-sized according to the chemical, temperature, pressure and applicable regulations.

Yes. TECNIUM designs and manufactures pressure equipment in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU). Tanks are designed and built according to EN, ASTM, ASME, ASCE, UIC and API standards, with the technical documentation and certifications required for legalisation.

APQ-6 is the supplementary technical instruction that regulates the storage of corrosive liquids in Spain. TECNIUM offers a complete legalisation service, including installation study, technical project, manufacture of the tanks in compliance with the regulation, installation, technical documentation and administrative processing with the competent authority to obtain the certificate of conformity.

Yes. TECNIUM offers a complete range of accessories including plastic valves (automatic regulation, safety and relief), FRP grating, ladders and handrails in fibreglass-reinforced polyester, and anticorrosive level indicators with visualisation, continuous electric reading or alarm functions. This allows an integrated solution from a single supplier.

Material selection depends on the chemical to be stored, its concentration, temperature and installation conditions. PP is very cost-effective for acids and alkalis up to 90 °C; PVDF offers universal resistance up to 120 °C; E-CTFE provides maximum resistance up to 150 °C; and FRP is ideal for large tanks that require structural rigidity. Our engineers perform free material compatibility assessments to recommend the optimal solution.
