Common questions about WWTP odour control
TECNIUM offers five technologies for the odour control of water treatment plants: biofiltration (TECNIUM-BIO) with organic and inorganic media, biotrickling percolating filters (TECNIUM BIO-TR), chemical absorption (TECNIUM-CHEM) with scrubbing towers, high-grade adsorption (TECNIUM-K) with ceramic and mineral adsorbents, and activated carbon adsorption (TECNIUM-CARB). The optimal technology is selected based on the pollutants present and the conditions of each area of the plant.
TECNIUM is the leader in odour control for water treatment plants in Spain, with a market share of between 60% and 80%. This position has been consolidated over decades thanks to the reliability of our solutions, the breadth of our technology portfolio and our ability to act as a single supplier of all the equipment required.
The biotrickling percolating filter technology (TECNIUM BIO-TR) allows chemical-route installations to be converted, completely eliminating the consumption of chemical reagents and therefore the need to store chemical products and to undergo the periodic APQ inspections associated with them. This represents a significant reduction in operating costs and in the logistical complexity of the installation.
TECNIUM plastic and FRP tanks are used in WWTPs to store a wide variety of reagents: sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) for disinfection, ferric chloride (FeCl₃) for coagulation, sulphuric acid (H₂SO₄) for pH adjustment, caustic soda (NaOH) for neutralisation, and polymers for sludge conditioning, among others. All are manufactured in materials compatible with each chemical product.
Yes. TECNIUM is one of the few manufacturers able to supply all the product lines a WWTP needs from a single company: odour control systems (five different technologies), reagent tanks, corrosion-resistant pumps and plastic fans. This simplifies procurement, ensures compatibility between systems and centralises project responsibility.
