BX Series – Motor Pumps

Compact motor-driven plastic centrifugal pumps with mechanical seal

The BX Series are close-coupled plastic motor pumps designed for the reliable transfer and circulation of corrosive and abrasive liquids in compact installations. Manufactured in solid thermoplastics, they combine high chemical resistance with a simplified, space-saving design. Ideal for continuous industrial duty, they use a mechanical seal available in multiple configurations to suit the chemical and thermal profile of each application.

BX Series compact motor pump

Single-stage monobloc centrifugal pump with mechanical seal isolated from the plastic body

  • Monobloc centrifugal pumps: single-stage with axial suction
  • Mechanical seal housing isolated from stress on the plastic body, protecting it from loads and deformations
  • Seal cover that prevents any corrosive dispersion, improving safety and cleanliness
  • Removable shaft independent of the impeller for fast maintenance
  • Torque transmission via key and large-surface steel core
  • Robust hydraulic design for dimensional stability and corrosion resistance
  • CE compliance (Machinery Directive), ISO 9001 quality system; ATEX versions available

Solid thermoplastics for maximum chemical compatibility

The BX Series pumps are available in a wide range of thermoplastics to guarantee maximum resistance to corrosion, abrasion and chemical attack. Each material is selected based on the fluid composition, operating temperature and mechanical process requirements.

PPPolypropylene — resistance to acids and alkalis, ideal for general chemical transfer
UHMW-PEUltra-high molecular weight polyethylene — superior abrasion resistance for slurries and fluids with particles
PVDFPolyvinylidene fluoride — exceptional chemical stability against strong oxidisers and high temperatures
E-CTFEEthylene chlorotrifluoroethylene — resistance to solvents, chlorinated compounds and corrosive vapours
PVCPolyvinyl chloride — economical option for moderately corrosive solutions
PTFEPolytetrafluoroethylene — total inertness and maximum chemical and thermal resistance

Mixed configurations can also be supplied to optimise cost and chemical compatibility, such as PP or PE casings with wetted parts in PVDF or PTFE.

FAQs about the BX Series

The most common queries about compact motor pumps, the differences with the BH Series and how to select the mechanical seal.

What is the difference between the BX Series and the BH Series?

Both are monobloc plastic motor pumps with a mechanical seal. The difference lies in the range: BX covers small flow rates (up to 14 m³/h) and moderate heads (up to 20 m), perfect for dosing, bath recirculation and compact skids. The BH reaches 250 m³/h and 80 m head for larger industrial duties. If your duty point is below 14 m³/h, the BX is more economical and compact; above that, the BH.

Why does "isolated seal housing on the plastic" matter?

Unlike steel, plastic cannot absorb concentrated mechanical loads without deforming. The BX design places the mechanical seal on a metal support that absorbs the sealing loads, protecting the pump body from stress that would cause leakage and misalignment over time. It is a key reliability detail in well-designed plastic pumps.

Which mechanical seal should I choose for my fluid?

For standard acids and alkalis, the M seal (single external with gasket) is the most economical option. For fluids that tend to crystallise or carry suspended solids, the MF (bellows) avoids abrasion on the seal faces. For more demanding services with high temperature or fine particles, the IP with SiC/SiC faces offers greater resistance. For pure chemicals or high-purity pharmaceutical grades, the IPi in PTFE/Ceramic is the seal of choice.

When should I choose BX with seal versus BKM magnetic?

The BX with mechanical seal is more economical than the magnetic BKM and is enough for the vast majority of chemical services where an occasional small seal weep is not critical. The BKM is reserved for toxic, highly hazardous or ultra-pure fluids — or installations with strict emission regulations — where zero leakage is an absolute requirement.

Which flange connections come as standard?

As standard, they are supplied with DIN 2501 / PN-16 or ANSI B16.5 150 lbs flanges depending on the size. For other standards (JIS, BS) or higher nominal pressures, specific configurations can be assessed on request. The plastic flanges are fully integrated into the pump body, with no metallic inserts in contact with the fluid.

Is it compliant with ATEX and CE regulations?

Yes. The BX Series complies with the CE Machinery Directive and operates under an ISO 9001 quality system. For classified areas, ATEX versions are available according to Directive 2014/34/EU, with the corresponding ATEX motor, antistatic plastics where applicable and proper earthing matched to the required protection level.
