Drinking water treatment plant
Several of our applications are linked to water treatment, both in drinking water plants and in desalination plants for urban and industrial supply. Our equipment is found in odour removal installations and gas scrubbers, and in pumps for corrosive products.
Not only in pretreatment, filtration or secondary treatment, but also for filtering chlorine residuals in water potabilisation, using suitable adsorbents, chemical routes, activated carbon and high-grade adsorbents.
Corrosion-resistant equipment for the drinking-water cycle
Drinking water and desalination plants handle aggressive chemical reagents that require equipment manufactured in corrosion-resistant plastic materials.

Solutions for every treatment phase
Drinking water treatment plants use a wide range of chemical reagents for coagulation, flocculation, disinfection and pH adjustment. TECNIUM provides the equipment required to store, dose and pump these reagents safely, as well as to treat the emissions generated in the process.
- Storage and dosing of reagents: NaOCl, FeCl₃, H₂SO₄, NaOH, Cl₂
- Pumping of corrosive reagents with corrosion-resistant and magnetic-drive pumps
- Removal of chlorine residuals using TECNIUM-CHEM gas scrubbers
- Ventilation and air extraction in chlorination and storage areas
- Equipment manufactured in PP, PVC, PVDF, E-CTFE and FRP
A single supplier for DWTPs
TECNIUM acts as a single supplier for drinking water treatment plants, providing everything from reagent storage tanks and dosing pumps through to gas scrubbers for chlorine abatement and corrosion-resistant fans.
Our engineering department assesses the needs of each plant and selects the optimal materials and configurations to deliver maximum durability and safety in contact with the reagents used in drinking water treatment.

Reagent storage for drinking water treatment
TECNIUM's main application in drinking water plants is the safe storage of the chemical reagents used in the water treatment process.

Plastic / FRP tanks for reagents
TECNIUM offers extensive experience in plastic tanks for the storage of all types of reagents used in drinking water plants: coagulants, flocculants, disinfectants, pH adjusters, polyelectrolytes and all kinds of auxiliary chemical products.
Tanks manufactured in high-performance polymer materials, chemically tailored to each stored reagent. Capacities from 500 to 200,000 litres.

Our equipment is designed for the safe handling of the reagents used in the different stages of drinking water treatment.
Chlorine and gas removal in DWTPs
For drinking water plants, TECNIUM applies its chemical absorption technology to remove chlorine residuals and other gases generated in the process.

TECNIUM-CHEM
Under this technology, TECNIUM supplies multiple systems for gas scrubbing and odour control through absorption with water or chemical reagents, using scrubbing towers, venturis and cyclones.
- Chemical scrubbing towers for Cl₂ residual removal
- Scrubbers for neutralisation of acid and alkaline vapours
- Emergency systems for chlorine gas leaks
- Corrosion-resistant materials: PP, PVC, PVDF, FRP
- Custom design and manufacture for each installation

Common questions about equipment for DWTPs
Excess chlorine gas (Cl₂) generated in the chlorination areas of drinking water plants is removed using TECNIUM-CHEM gas scrubbers, which use chemical absorption with alkaline solutions (NaOH) to neutralise the chlorine. TECNIUM also supplies emergency systems to deal with possible chlorine gas leaks in chlorination rooms.
TECNIUM magnetic-drive pumps use a magnetic coupling instead of a conventional mechanical seal, completely eliminating any possibility of leakage. This makes them ideal for the dosing of hazardous chemical reagents in drinking water plants, where safety is a priority and no leaks of products such as sulphuric acid, hypochlorite or caustic soda can be tolerated.
TECNIUM tanks for potabilisation reagents are manufactured in a wide range of plastic materials selected on the basis of chemical compatibility with each reagent: polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), PVC, PVDF, E-CTFE and glass-fibre reinforced plastic (FRP). The material is selected on the basis of chemical resistance, service temperature and applicable standards (EN, APQ).
Yes. TECNIUM supplies equipment for desalination plants, both reverse osmosis and electrodialysis. Reagent tanks, corrosion-resistant pumps for handling pre-treatment and post-treatment chemicals, fans are common TECNIUM applications in this type of facility.
