All about our hydrochloric acid pump
In this article we’ll look at the main features of plastic pumps and how they work to pump acids and corrosive products. We’ll look at a variety of different pumps that TECNIUM provides which are suitable for use as hydrochloric acid transfer pumps, hydrochloric acid dosing pumps and hydrochloric acid drum pumps.
What is TECNIUM?
TECNIUM was founded in Barcelona in 1957. TECNIUM prides itself on being a leader in solving industry related problems related to corrosion and atmospheric pollution. TECNIUM provides advanced design and high performance solutions to the industrial world.
TECNIUM hires top level engineers and technicians and works in collaboration with several universities. TECNIUM has great facilities where its specialized products are manufactured to the highest quality and ISO requirements.
How do plastic pumps designed for acids and corrosive materials work?
High safety standards need to be maintained in the industrial chemical sector in order to keep the plant, the environment and the health of workers secure. Chemical production is very costly and any leakage could have serious health consequences.
There are also a large variety of chemicals used in the production process, making necessary pumping equipment absolutely essential. TECNIUM provides a wide range of plastic pumps that can be used in the industrial sector.
What are TECNIUM plastic pumps used for?

TECNIUM plastic pumps are designed to be used with materials that can withstand different levels of viscosity, corrosiveness and abrasiveness. They are versatile and can be used with many industrial applications. A wide range of fluids can be handled effectively without any issues by using TECNIUM’s plastic pumps.
TECNIUM’s plastic pumps can be used with many different corrosive liquids and acids, including hydrochloric acids.
Vertical Sump Pumps
TECNIUM provides a wide range of plastic sump pumps that have cantilevered shafts and dry running support. They are normally used for liquids that contain particles. These vertical sump pumps have a flow of up to 500 m3/h and heads of up to 100 mlc.
Vertical External Pumps
TECNIUM also has a range of external vertical pumps, which are glandless and have dry running support. They are normally used for liquids with particles. These pumps have a flow of up to 1.200 m3/h and heads of up to 150 mlc.
Process Pumps
TECNIUM’s process pumps are standardized pumps as per EN 22858 / ISO-5199. These are heavy duty process pumps for continuous operation. They use a wide range of plastic materials and mechanical seals, ideal for resisting fluid. They have a flow of up to 1.500 m3/h and heads of up to 120 mlc.
Direct Coupled Pumps
TECNIUM’s direct coupled pumps have a hydraulic performance and dimensions as per EN 22858. They are an effective economic solution and are reliable due to their heavy duty construction, which is of similar construction to TECNIUM’s standardized process pumps. They have a flow of up to 250 m3/h and heads of up to 100 mlc.
The maintenance involved for all of TECNIUM’s plastic pumps is minimal, even under Industry’s hardest conditions. Their design allows the separation of engine, frame, impeller, shaft and mechanical seal without disassembling suction or discharge pipes.
