Vertical Motor Pumps – BHS Series

Compact vertical monobloc pumps for corrosive and abrasive fluids

The BHS Series from Tecnium are vertical close-coupled plastic centrifugal pumps engineered for the continuous transfer of corrosive and abrasive liquids in confined installations where a horizontal layout is not suitable. Designed with a space-efficient vertical configuration, the BHS combines robust construction, chemical resistance, and ease of maintenance for demanding industrial environments.

Design and Construction

The BHS Series features a vertical monobloc design, integrating the motor and hydraulic body into a single compact assembly. This construction ensures perfect alignment between motor and pump shaft, reducing mechanical wear and simplifying installation.

  • Vertical, single-stage centrifugal pump
  • Close-coupled motor drive with rigid coupling
  • Solid thermoplastic construction for total corrosion resistance
  • Flanged suction and discharge connections
  • Low footprint and easy integration into existing systems
  • CE and ISO 9001 compliant, with ATEX versions available

Performance and Range

  • Flow rate: up to 90 m³/h (≈ 396 gpm)
  • Head: up to 50 mcl (≈ 164 ft)
  • Operating temperature: depending on thermoplastic material (up to 90 °C)
  • Configuration: single-stage, vertical close-coupled

This performance range makes the BHS an excellent choice for continuous-duty operations involving aggressive liquids in chemical, environmental, and surface treatment applications.

Mechanical Seal Options

SF: single external with bellow

DE: double external mechanical seal

IP: internal single (SiC/SiC)

IF: internal single (PTFE/Ceramic)

Applications

BHS pumps are commonly installed in environments where space-saving and vertical discharge are required, including:

  • Chemical and pharmaceutical plants – transfer of acids, alkalis, and corrosive solutions
  • Water and wastewater treatment (WWTP) – recirculation and neutralisation systems
  • Surface finishing and electroplating – transfer of pickling and rinsing baths
  • Fertiliser and metallurgical plants – handling of aggressive process fluids
  • Environmental systems – scrubber liquid recirculation and odour treatment loops

Available Materials

The BHS Series pumps are manufactured from solid thermoplastics to ensure maximum compatibility with corrosive, abrasive, and chemically aggressive fluids. Material selection depends on chemical composition, temperature, and mechanical load.

  • PP (Polypropylene): excellent for acids and alkalis, cost-effective and durable.
  • UHMW-PE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene): exceptional abrasion resistance for slurries and solid-containing fluids.
  • PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride): high resistance to strong oxidants and elevated temperatures.
  • E-CTFE (Ethylene Chlorotrifluoroethylene): ideal for solvents, halogens, and highly corrosive vapours.
  • PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride): suitable for mild corrosive media and water-based solutions.
  • PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene): chemically inert, recommended for extreme chemical environments.

Mixed configurations are available to optimise cost and performance — for instance, PP casings with PVDF wetted parts.
