Magnetic Drive Pumps – BKM Series

Sealless centrifugal pumps for corrosive and hazardous fluids

The BKM Series from Tecnium are horizontal magnetic drive centrifugal pumps specially engineered for the safe handling of corrosive, toxic, or hazardous chemicals. Their sealless design eliminates any possibility of leakage, making them ideal for applications requiring total containment of aggressive or volatile liquids.

Tecnium Magnetic Drive motor Pumps BKM Series

Design and Construction

The BKM Series operates using a magnetic coupling system that transmits torque from the motor to the impeller through a hermetic isolation shell, avoiding any direct mechanical contact. This configuration ensures zero emissions, minimal maintenance, and high reliability in demanding chemical environments.

  • Horizontal single-stage centrifugal pump
  • Magnetic drive system (no mechanical seal)
  • Sealless design, preventing any leakage of hazardous fluids
  • Solid thermoplastic casing with steel core for structural reinforcement
  • Back pull-out construction for easy maintenance
  • CE and ISO 9001 compliant, with ATEX versions available for explosive atmospheres

Performance and Range

  • Flow rate: up to 50 m³/h (≈ 220 gpm)
  • Head: up to 45 mcl (≈ 147 ft)
  • Operating temperature: depending on plastic material, up to 90 °C
  • Maximum system pressure: according to ISO 5199 / ISO 2858 standards

Applications

The BKM pumps are designed for continuous-duty operation in processes requiring absolute fluid containment and high chemical resistance, including:

  • Chemical and pharmaceutical industries – acids, alkalis, solvents, chlorinated and fluorinated compounds
  • Surface treatment plants – acid pickling, anodising, and chemical rinsing circuits
  • Water and wastewater treatment – neutralisation and dosing systems
  • Fertiliser and phosphoric acid plants – corrosive and abrasive liquid handling
  • Energy and power generation – cooling circuits, scrubber systems, and condensate lines

Technical Advantages

  • Sealless design: eliminates leaks and reduces maintenance costs
  • No mechanical wear: thanks to the magnetic coupling and absence of seals
  • High chemical compatibility: full plastic construction with optional metallic reinforcement
  • Compact, modular construction: easy disassembly for servicing
  • Silent and vibration-free operation
  • Available with DIN 2501 / ANSI 150 lbs flanges
  • ATEX-certified versions available for use in explosive atmospheres

Available Materials

The BKM Series pumps are available in a full range of solid thermoplastics chosen for their corrosion resistance, mechanical integrity, and suitability for aggressive media:

  • PP (Polypropylene): resistant to acids and alkalis, ideal for general chemical duties.
  • UHMW-PE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene): excellent for abrasive slurries and solids-laden liquids.
  • PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride): high performance against strong oxidants and elevated temperatures.
  • E-CTFE (Ethylene Chlorotrifluoroethylene): ideal for solvents, halogens, and mixed corrosive vapours.
  • PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride): cost-effective for mild corrosive solutions and water-based chemicals.
  • PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene): chemically inert and fully resistant to the most aggressive compounds.

Mixed-material configurations can be supplied — e.g., PP casing with PVDF wetted parts — to optimise cost and resistance.
